A Conscientious SPEC-home

Working with a well-established Bellingham home-builder, we collaboratively developed this design for a well-appointed spec-home in a rare undeveloped city lot.  The design process could be characterized as a well coordinated game of give-and-take... economize big-ticket items (like keeping the roof construction very simple) in order to allow budget for quality detailing that gives the home a custom feel (like exposed timberframing in the main living space).  The home features a sun-gathering bump-out on the south wall, filled by a spacious window seat on the main level to provide connection between the kitchen and living area, and a yoga/meditation/work studio space on the upper floor. This 3BR-3BA house is 1953 Square Feet, with a detached garage/shop on the back of the lot.

This project is currently under construction... we'll be posting more photos as work progresses!
