Located on a challenging sloped lot on Alabama Hill, this project took shape as a small-footprint, 3-story home. The 770SF garage/shop on the ground level keeps the excavation costs reasonable, while elevating the two stories of living area in order to gain excellent views towards the Puget Sound and surrounding Islands. The owners elected to place the main living area on the top floor in order to maximize their enjoyment of those views, an unconventional arrangement that we wholeheartedly supported. The 2BR/1.5BA plan is designed for their lifestyle, though we did make accommodations to allow expansion of an additional bedroom and bathroom on the garage level if the need arises.
